In a significant move aimed at ensuring financial security for rural frontline workers, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has ordered that salaries for approximately 50,000 Gram Panchayat staff across the state be disbursed precisely on the first day of every month.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the payment schedule should mirror that of IAS officers, ensuring timely disbursement for all categories of employees, including those on outsourcing and contract basis. This directive underscores the government's commitment to the welfare of the staff who are crucial for maintaining essential services in villages.
CM Reddy also issued a stern warning against any delays, stating that the government would not tolerate negligence in salary payments. The decision comes as a major relief to Panchayat staff who have previously faced prolonged periods of pending salaries, impacting their financial stability.
To facilitate this new payment system and ensure its smooth operation, the government has announced the allocation of ₹50 crore monthly from the budget specifically for these salary disbursements. This initiative is expected to strengthen rural governance and improve the morale of the field-level workforce.
The directive aims to provide much-needed financial predictability for the Panchayat staff, enabling them to better manage their household expenses and contribute effectively to the functioning of local governance.
